Observational Drawing

These observational drawings all began as pencil sketches on location.
-
The first two were scanned then coloured in Photoshop using a graphics tablet. Whereas adding colour to the original could only happen once, the scanned copy could be reworked with different colour combinations.

-
On the other hand, using coloured pencil delicately has worked in this drawing. Sharp and uneven marks of yellow pencil give the kite energy and a feeling of movement. Areas of colouring from pencil have a unique texture and roughness which is sometimes better suited than the much cleaner effect from digital colour.
